Macy’s is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to shape and drive its technology strategy, partnering with Senior Leadership to deliver modern, scalable solutions. You will lead a large engineering organization, mentor leaders, and oversee multi-cloud stacks across private and public environments, aligning with business goals in a retail context.

You will champion Agile delivery, ensure software quality, and build bench strength within the team while managing budgets and vendor

Qualifications

• Proven ability to establish and drive technology strategy aligned with business needs.
• Experience leading large-scale technology initiatives, especially in retail or matrixed organizations.
• Strong Agile delivery and execution experience.
• Ability to attract, develop, and mentor engineering talent.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery, and operations of technology solutions to modernize Macy’s capabilities.
• Provide strategic guidance to senior technology leadership on systems, processes, and improvements.
• Stay current on emerging technologies and maintain a modern tech stack.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive platform modernization and initiatives.
• Enhance software quality and drive end-to-end accountability across teams.
• Own talent development and build bench strength within the technology organization.
• Mentor and coach leaders and individual contributors to raise the talent bar.
• Manage portfolio budgets, projects, and resource planning.
• Foster inclusive environment and authentic connections with colleagues and communities.
