Job summary

Pluribus Digital is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead our software teams and shape technical strategy for government-focused digital products.

You will manage individual contributors and managers, drive talent development, align cross‑functional partners, and ensure delivery using modern Agile/DevSecOps practices.

The role emphasizes risk mitigation, architectural excellence, and collaboration with product, UX, and cloud engineering peers, with opportunity for impact.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
• Experience managing managers of a 40+ person group within a consulting organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• 10+ years of software development team leadership and people management.
• Experience developing success indicators and goals for software engineering teams.
• Experience partnering with product, UX, and cloud engineering peers across teams.
• Experience growing talent through hiring, mentoring, and hands‑on career development.
• Expertise in legacy software modernization and architecting applications for the cloud.
• Expertise in Agile & DevSecOps‑based delivery.
• Expertise in technical writing, presentation writing, and proposal development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Software Engineering capability.
• Establish and track OKRs and KPIs to measure success in software engineering initiatives.
• Act as a fractionally billable practitioner on projects, staying connected to hands‑on challenges.
• Ensure technical excellence and adoption of best practices across programs.
• Support technical solutions, proposal development, and market research efforts.
• Oversee hiring, succession planning, and staffing strategy with the COO and Talent team.
• Drive talent development through practice community meetings, training, and mentorship opportunities.
• Manage bench time utilization, ensuring career growth opportunities for team members.
• Collaborate with other directors for high‑level cross‑capability engagement.
