Pluribus partners with government customers to design, develop, and deliver impactful digital products. We are a hands-on digital services consultancy – part technologists, part change agents, and all heart. We employ modern best practices to improve public health and benefits, regulate the financial industry, grant citizenship and asylum, and provide secure identity and access management.

About The Role

The Director, Business Operations leads the systems, processes, and operating practices that enable the company to scale effectively. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role translates business priorities into coordinated action, improves cross-functional execution, and ensures the organization operates efficiently and consistently.

The Director oversees business operations, quality management, performance reporting, corporate services, vendor management, and strategic internal initiatives. This role partners across the company but does not perform hands-on IT administration, recruiting, human resources administration, payroll, or contract administration.

What You Will Do
Business Operations and Process Improvement
  • Develop and execute an operations roadmap aligned with company growth and business priorities.
  • Evaluate and improve processes across corporate functions.
  • Establish clear process ownership, decision rights, handoffs, and escalation paths.
  • Develop and maintain policies, standard operating procedures, process maps, templates, and other operating documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify or automate manual and duplicative work.
  • Support organizational planning and recommend resources, systems, and processes needed for continued growth.
Strategic Execution and Governance
  • Translate executive priorities into structured initiatives with clear owners, timelines, and outcomes.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and resolve dependencies, risks, and ownership gaps.
  • Establish consistent project management and change management practices.
  • Manage the company’s operating cadence, including leadership meetings, planning cycles, goals, and operating reviews.
  • Maintain action registers, decision logs, approval authorities, and other governance tools.
  • Provide leadership with clear visibility into progress, risks, and decisions requiring attention.
Quality and Compliance
  • Lead the company’s Quality Management System and continuous improvement activities.
  • Oversee applicable CMMI and ISO programs.
  • Coordinate internal audits, management reviews, corrective actions, and external assessments.
  • Maintain controlled quality documentation and ensure processes remain current and practical.
  • Analyze audit results, performance data, and stakeholder feedback to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain readiness for customer reviews, certification audits, and regulatory assessments.
Corporate Services and Office Operations
  • Oversee office operations, facilities, supplies, equipment coordination, and shared corporate resources.
  • Manage office vendors, landlords, service providers, and workplace-related contracts in coordination with Contracts and Finance.
  • Establish scalable office management practices for onsite and distributed employees.
  • Coordinate company events with People Operations, Marketing and Communications, and executive leadership.
  • Oversee state registrations, business licenses, corporate renewals, and related administrative requirements.
  • Coordinate corporate insurance administration and business continuity planning.
  • Maintain clear ownership and backup coverage for recurring corporate responsibilities.
Vendor Management and Business Systems
  • Establish processes for vendor selection.
  • Develop procurement workflows, approval thresholds, and documentation requirements.
  • Evaluate vendor cost, performance, service quality, and operational risk.
  • Define business requirements for workflow, reporting, collaboration, and knowledge-management systems.
  • Partner with IT and external providers on system selection and implementation.
  • Improve governance of shared drives, collaboration platforms, process repositories, and company knowledge.
  • Promote adoption of approved systems and reduce reliance on email-based approvals, disconnected spreadsheets, and undocumented workarounds.
What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Organizational Leadership, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in business operations, corporate operations, quality, program management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and operational improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to design scalable processes, governance practices, and performance measures.
  • Strong project management, change management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience developing operational dashboards and executive-level reporting.
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to influence across functions and drive accountability without direct authority.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a federal government contractor or another regulated organization.
  • Experience helping an organization scale through significant growth.
  • Experience with CMMI, ISO, Quality Management Systems, or internal audits.
  • Familiarity with government contracting requirements, including FAR, DFARS, or CMMC.
  • Experience implementing workflow automation, business systems, or knowledge-management solutions.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, or comparable certification.
