Job summary

MultiTech is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead engineering for embedded software, applications, and data platforms. You will drive engineering excellence, establish strategy, and mentor teams across product software development and UI design.

The role partners with Product Management, Hardware, Cloud, QA, Manufacturing, and leadership to deliver innovative software aligned with roadmaps and customer needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Software/Engineering or related field required; Master's preferred.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of engineering leadership experience managing technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and manage software engineering teams for embedded software, applications, gateway software, edge computing software, mobile apps, and UI development.
• Establish and communicate software engineering strategy, goals, priorities, and best practices.
• Mentor and retain engineers through coaching, career development, performance management, and succession planning.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering leadership to set roadmaps, priorities, staffing plans, and resource allocations.
• Drive successful software projects with focus on quality, schedule, budget, and technical objectives.
• Oversee software architecture, design reviews, and development processes for scalable, secure solutions.
• Promote continuous improvement in engineering processes, quality systems, testing, and automation.
• Enforce coding standards, cybersecurity requirements, documentation, and quality procedures.
• Monitor project status, identify risks, and remove obstacles for teams.
• Guide adoption of modern development tools, DevOps practices, CI/CD workflows, and software quality metrics.
• Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and workforce planning.
