Job summary

Project HOME in Philadelphia seeks a Director of Software Applications to lead the strategy for our software platforms, business applications, and data warehouse that power our mission-driven work.

You will partner with departments across the organization to modernize our application ecosystem, guide data warehouse development, and ensure technology is reliable, secure, and scalable while developing the IT team and serving as a key technology partner to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years leading software applications and data warehouse teams.
  • 5+ years IT and telecommunications leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of budget development and management.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Shape technology strategy in support of mission, operations, and growth.
  • Lead development and lifecycle management of applications and data warehouse.

Project HOME is a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness and poverty in Philadelphia, providing integrated housing, healthcare, education, and employment services across the city. As Director of Software Applications, you will lead the strategy behind the software platforms, business applications, and data warehouse that power our mission-driven work, from the systems our clinical and housing teams rely on every day to the data infrastructure that helps leadership make informed decisions. You will partner with departments across the organization to modernize and manage our application ecosystem, guide data warehouse development, and ensure the technology behind our services is reliable, secure, and built to scale. This role also leads and develops our IT team and serves as a key technology partner to the VP of Information Technology and Project HOME's Senior Management Team.   • Hybrid: Eligible for 2 remote days
  • Compensation:$121,662 annually
What You'll Do
Strategy & Applications Leadership
  • Serve as a key member of Project HOME's Senior Management Team, shaping technology strategy in support of our mission, operations, and growth.
  • Partner with departments across Project HOME to identify where software applications and data can better support their work.
  • Set the short and long-term roadmap for technology investments, software applications, and data warehouse development.
  • Lead the development, integration, and lifecycle management of Project HOME's business applications and data warehouse, ensuring accurate, accessible data across the organization.
Team & Operations Management
  • Oversee the Information Technology and Telecommunications environments, ensuring platforms and applications remain reliable and secure.
  • Supervise and develop the IT team, completing annual performance evaluations and identifying professional growth opportunities.
  • Support the technology design and implementation for new capital projects.
  • Develop and manage annual IT operating and capital budgets, including organization-wide technology expenses.
  • Negotiate, review, and manage IT and software vendor contracts, consultant relationships, and procurement processes.
  • Develop and maintain IT security and disaster recovery plans, including equipment asset management and tracking.
  • Lead the IT portion of Project HOME's annual audits, directing resolution of any findings.
What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field required, or equivalent certification and work experience.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in software application development and data warehouse management.
  • 5+ years of IT and telecommunications leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of management and administrative experience, including supervising technical staff.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and managing budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license required.

What You May Bring

These are not required, but they would help you succeed in this role:

  • Experience in social service or other nonprofit organizations.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business Administration.
  • Experience with enterprise platforms such as ERP, HRIS, or CRM systems (for example, Salesforce).
  • Familiarity with finance and accounting systems (for example, Blackbaud or Adaptive Planning).
