Genesis HealthCare, Inc. in Orono, ME is seeking a Director of Social Services to lead the Social Services department and elevate residents’ quality of life.

The role includes developing policies, supervising up to 2 staff, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure ethical, rights-based care aligned with NASW standards.

Hourly compensation ranges from $24.00 to $28.00, with a comprehensive benefits package and growth opportunities within our organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work or human services is required.
• Certifications/licensures as required by state to practice in long-term care must be obtained.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with social services staff, interdisciplinary team, and administration to protect patient rights, dignity, independence, and psychological well-being.
• Maintain strong relationships with center staff; meet with administration and nursing to plan and coordinate care.
• Ensure psychosocial assessments identify social, emotional, and psychological needs and strengths.
• Educate patients and families about rights, decision making, advance directives, problem solving, and resources.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to help patients adapt to the nursing center and address mood/behavior issues.
