Job summary

Runpod, a remote-first AI developer cloud, seeks a Director of Security to lead and scale our security organization. You will own end-to-end security for cloud platform, infra, and corporate environments, building rhythm, culture, and strategic direction to protect customer AI workloads as demand grows.

You will partner with Engineering, Product, GTM, and Infrastructure leadership to ensure Runpod remains secure, compliant, and resilient for training and running mission-critical AI inference

Qualifications

• Security leadership across large teams and programs.
• Ability to translate complex security risks into business decisions.
• Proven track record securing high-scale cloud platforms or infrastructures.
• Experience building and measuring security metrics (MTTD, MTTR, patch SLAs).
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product, and legal.
• Clear written and verbal communication with stakeholders.
• Successful completion of a background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead security org across Cloud, App, SecOps, and GRC domains.
• Drive security frameworks, compliance and certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA).
• Hire and mentor security managers and ICs in a remote-first setting.
• Embed security into the engineering lifecycle and SSDLC.
• Develop threat models, architecture reviews, and automated scans.
• Operate incident response, monitoring, logging, and threat detection.
• Manage vendor risk and executive security conversations.
• Automate security tooling and CI/CD integration.
• Provide security oversight for infrastructure and zero-trust architecture.
