Job summary

Runpod, the AI Developer Cloud, is seeking a Director of Security to lead and scale our security organization across cloud, product, and infrastructure. You will own risk management, compliance (SOC 2, ISO 27001), and incident response in a remote-first environment, partnering with Engineering, Product, and Infra leadership to protect customer AI workloads.

In this role you will hire and mentor security managers, embed SSDLC, drive threat modeling, and build metrics-driven security operations

Qualifications

• 7+ years leading security teams including managers and/or multiple squads.
• Ability to take complex security goals from concept through execution.
• 8+ years cloud security for SaaS, platforms, or IaaS with Kubernetes/Linux security expertise.
• Experience building culture, accountability, and momentum across distributed teams.
• Strong use of security metrics (MTTD/MTTR, patch SLAs, defect escape rates).
• Clear written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, and translating risks into business decisions.
• Successful completion of a background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead security strategy and execution across Cloud Security, App Security, SecOps and GRC.
• Drive frameworks and compliance (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA) with measurable outcomes.
• Hire and mentor security managers and senior ICs in a remote-first environment.
• Embed security into the engineering lifecycle and SSDLC, with threat modeling and architecture reviews.
• Drive incident response, monitoring, logging, and rapid remediation to minimize MTTR/MTTD.
• Represent security in executive-level customer conversations and manage third-party risk.
• Invest in automation to shift security left within CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide security oversight for infra systems (GPU clusters, IAM, networks) and ensure zero-trust and scalability.
• Coordinate with Infra/SRE for secure provisioning and high-availability.
