Job summary

Volusia County School District seeks a Director of Secondary Schools to lead a portfolio of middle and high schools, build principal capacity, and drive district-wide school improvement. This role is a Teaching, Leading, & Learning leadership position focused on instructional leadership and accountability.

The director ensures schools have effective structures, uses data to guide decisions, supports coaching cycles, monitors progress, and partners with Senior Leaders to close achievement gaps

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in educational leadership with at least three years as principal.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills not required.
• Experience supervising school administrators in large districts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate assigned principals according to standards.
• Conduct visits with classroom observations and conferences.
• Provide timely, evidence-based feedback on instructional leadership and school culture.
• Differentiate supervisory support based on each principal's developmental level.
• Address underperformance with improvement plans and escalation when needed.
• Recommend principal employment changes to leadership.
• Lead school improvement planning with data-driven focus.
