- Differentiate supervisory support to each Director based on their developmental level and the performance profile of their assigned school portfolio
- Address underperformance among Directors - and, in partnership with Directors, among principals - with directness, documentation, and structured improvement plans; elevate appropriately and in partnership with Human Resources and the Chief Academic Officer when necessary
- Make recommendations regarding Director and principal employment, assignment, and professional development to the Chief Academic Officer
Division-Wide School Improvement & Student Outcomes
- Serve as the primary accountability leader for the elementary division's academic performance, school grades, and student growth targets
- Analyze division-level and school-level data - including FAST results, school tiering and classification data, progress monitoring, subgroup performance, and chronic absenteeism - to set elementary division priorities and hold Directors accountable for portfolio-wide improvement
- Lead Directors of Elementary Schools through structured school improvement planning processes, ensuring plans across the division are grounded in root cause analysis and reflect realistic, measurable action steps
- Establish and monitor regular data review cycles with Directors to track the implementation and effectiveness of school improvement plans across all assigned schools
- Ensure the elementary division meets or exceeds district and state proficiency benchmarks, with particular attention to closing achievement gaps for historically underserved student groups
- Coordinate with the Teaching, Leading & Learning division and other district offices to align resources, interventions, and support to the elementary division's improvement needs
Leadership Development & Succession

- Support Directors in establishing and sustaining high-quality instructional coaching structures within their assigned schools
- Facilitate professional learning for Directors of Elementary Schools, including individual coaching conversations, collaborative learning, and targeted skill development
- Oversee the development of a leadership pipeline across the elementary division - including principals, assistant principals, and teacherleaders - to build internal succession and sustainability
- Ensure that Directors and principals hold high expectations for all students - and that instructional practices, staffing decisions, and school culture across the division reflect those expectations
Division Operations & Organizational Health
- Oversee the operational health of the elementary division, including staffing, scheduling, budget stewardship, and compliance with district and state requirements across assigned schools
- Support Directors in managing human resources matters within their portfolios, including hiring recommendations, performance concerns, and staff development, in coordination with the district's HR division
