Pressrun in New York seeks an experienced SEO strategy leader to own integrated programs across traditional search, AI-powered answer engines, and social discovery. You will architect discoverability systems and embed SEO into client content production.

Job description

You own how our clients' content gets found — across traditional search, AI-powered answer engines, and social discovery. You'll build the strategy and systems that ensure every piece of content we produce is optimized for maximum visibility wherever audiences are looking.

What you'll do

• Develop integrated SEO, AEO, and GEO strategies for all client content programs
• Build and maintain discoverability frameworks that span Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and social platforms
• Conduct technical audits and implement optimizations across client web properties
• Monitor and analyze performance across traditional and AI-powered search surfaces
• Define content structures and metadata strategies that maximize AI citation and retrieval
• Collaborate with editorial and engineering teams to embed discoverability into production workflows
• Track emerging search technologies and adapt strategy accordingly

What we're looking for

• 7+ years in SEO/search strategy with progressive leadership responsibility
• Proven expertise in AI search optimization — AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)
• Technical SEO fluency: structured data, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, crawl optimization
• Experience with enterprise SEO tools (Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, GSC)
• Track record of driving organic growth through content-led SEO strategy
• Ability to translate technical search concepts into actionable editorial guidance

Nice to have

• Experience optimizing content for AI citation (Perplexity, ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews)
• Background in publishing or long-form content optimization
• Familiarity with programmatic SEO and content automation
