Position Overview

The Director of Sales – New York Territory will serve as the strategic and operational lead for our sales organization across the state. This is a high-impact, remote leadership role that requires extensive travel to build and maintain key customer relationships, manage and develop a high-performing sales team, and drive the execution of regional business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Sales Leadership & Team Development: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of territory sales representatives across New York. Develop and implement sales strategies that align with national objectives while addressing local market dynamics. Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and professional growth.
  2. Customer Relationship Management: Build and sustain strong relationships with retail and wholesale partners. Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, ensuring exceptional service and satisfaction. Regular travel to meet clients, resolve issues, and identify opportunities.
  3. Territory & Business Operations: Own the P&L for the New York territory, including managing budgets, pricing, and margins. Deliver accurate sales forecasting and reporting. Identify and capitalize on market trends, competitive activities, and regional growth opportunities.
  4. Brand Advocacy & Market Presence: Represent the brand at trade shows, promotional events, and industry functions. Drive brand visibility and strengthen our presence in key retail and wholesale channels. Collaborate with marketing and product teams to ensure brand consistency.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7+ years in sales leadership, ideally within tobacco, CPG, or regulated goods industries.
  • Strong knowledge of the New York retail and wholesale landscape.
  • Proven experience managing territory-level P&L, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 75%) throughout New York State.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach to field sales.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA is a plus.
