We are a fast-growing General Contractor with a long-standing history. We are looking for a Director of Safety to contribute to our safety culture and compliance efforts.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
- Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle workers’ compensation claims
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics
- Assess risk and safety hazards of new construction sites and plan precautionary measures
- Foster a healthy safety culture by leading by example
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management or related field required
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a similar construction role
- Proficient knowledge of Procore and other construction management software
- Extensive experience with site work, field operations, and builders
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures in construction
- Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., CSP, CIH) is a plus
- Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Proactive, diligent, and able to work under pressure
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities
