This key position plays a vital role in advancing patient safety, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and organizational excellence throughout our behavioral health hospital.

Position Summary

The Director of Risk Management and Performance Improvement is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive risk management, patient safety, and performance improvement programs. This leader collaborates closely with executive leadership, medical staff, department leaders, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with accreditation standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee hospital-wide performance improvement activities and quality initiatives.
  • Analyze incident reports, patient satisfaction surveys, grievances, and adverse events to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and present quality, safety, and risk management reports to the Quality Council, Medical Executive Committee, and Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate readiness activities for Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and state regulatory surveys.
  • Manages communications and corrective action responses with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee the hospital's Patient Advocate, ensuring patient rights are protected and concerns are addressed appropriately.
  • Maintain compliance records, performance metrics, audit documentation, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Support a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous quality improvement across the organization.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field preferred
Experience
  • 2-3+ years of healthcare or behavioral health experience with a focus on quality management, risk management, compliance, or performance improvement preferred
Skills
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and healthcare regulatory standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced organizational and leadership capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
