Job summary

Alkami Technology is seeking a Director of Risk to lead the enterprise and technology risk management program with emphasis on AI governance. This remote-first role reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and supports risk assessment, policy development, controls, and incident response.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in risk/compliance with deep knowledge of financial services regulation and AI risk, and can translate complex requirements into actionable product and technology needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years in risk management, internal audit, compliance, IT risk, or related control functions.
• Knowledge of risk frameworks (NIST, ISO, COSO, COBIT) and regulatory expectations.
• Experience in AI governance, AI risk management, or responsible-AI practices.
• Strong ability to translate regulatory and risk requirements into practical business and product needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead Alkami’s enterprise and technology risk management program—including risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring and reporting.
• Define and direct risk governance frameworks, metrics and reporting to executive leadership.
• Oversee AI governance lifecycle, including intake, risk assessment, controls and monitoring.
• Assess AI-related risks across data privacy, information security and vendor risk.
• Collaborate with risk owners to design effective controls and remediation strategies.
• Communicate risk findings clearly to a variety of stakeholders.
