Job summary

HPM Building Supply is seeking a Director of Retail to lead day-to-day retail operations across Hawaii, including the Islands of O’ahu and Hawaiʻi Island. The role defines merchandising and visual standards for every store and yard, shaping the customer experience and driving statewide retail programs year after year.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years in retail merchandising or multistore leadership, with strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage a multi-location

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of experience in retail merchandising or multistore leadership.
• Hardware, home improvement, or building materials experience preferred
• Valid Driver's license
• College degree in a related field preferred but not required
• Intermediate computer skills are required

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day retail operations across Hawaii.
• Set merchandising and visual standards for all stores and yards.
• Define customer experience standards across the state.
• Build and manage statewide retail programs.
• Maintain standards month to month so they don’t fade over time

Job description

The expected pay range for the Director of Retail is $137,500 to $192,100 a year plus bonus. The pay is determined by several factors, including but not limited to location, job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity, and other factors relevant to the job. This position will be based in Hilo or on the island of O'ahu, Hawaii. HPM Building Supply is hiring a Director of Retail to create and foster an experience that wows our customers. This individual is responsible for the day-to-day operations of retail operations in the state of Hawaii, This role sets the merchandising and visual standard for every store and yard, defines what the customer experience should look like, builds the retail programs that bring people through the door, and holds the standard month after month so it does not fade once the attention moves on. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record, a strategic mindset, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to navigate the complexities of managing a multi-location retail operation.
