Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director of AI Engineering to lead AI systems and responsible AI initiatives. This remote-eligible role partners with cross-functional teams to build and deploy AI software, train foundation models, and govern AI solutions across the enterprise.

You will guide optimization, governance, and observability while nurturing a high-performing AI organization and aligning with Capital One's enterprise AI strategy and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Experience leading AI/ML teams and delivering AI products at scale.
Strong foundation in engineering, mathematics, and optimization.
Proven ability to translate enterprise AI strategy into execution plans.

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI components.
Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
Advance foundation model optimization for performance, cost, latency, and throughput.
Contribute to the long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.
Foster talent development and maintain a culture of learning.
Scale AI engineering practices with shared infra and governance.
