Job description

The Director of Resort Experiences & Wellness is a member of the Resort Leadership Committee responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence, guest experience, and financial performance of Membership Operations, Resort Programming, Pool Operations, Pool Food & Beverage, Recreation Experiences, and retail performance across assigned areas. The role also serves as a key resort partner to Miraval Life in Balance Spa, whose leadership maintains direct oversight of its managers and daily spa operation. This highly visible leader will create memorable guest and member experiences, drive revenue and profitability, develop engaged teams, and build a culture committed to learning and consistently delivering Forbes Five-Star service standards. The position requires the leadership effort, attention to detail, and operational discipline necessary to provide a luxury resort experience.

Resort Experience Leadership

• Develop and execute an integrated strategy for resort programming, recreation, membership, pool experiences, and wellness-related activations.
• Create seasonal, holiday, family, fitness, and signature experiences that increase participation, loyalty, and resort differentiation.
• Collaborate with Rooms, Food & Beverage, Golf, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Security, and Miraval leadership to deliver seamless guest journeys.
• Use guest feedback, participation trends, and operating results to continually improve the experience portfolio.

Forbes Five-Star Service & Guest Experience

• Champion personalized, anticipatory, and memorable service across all areas of responsibility.
• Create a culture in which colleagues actively learn, practice, and consistently execute Forbes Five-Star service standards.
• Conduct regular service observations, quality reviews, and coaching to strengthen guest recognition, presentation, cleanliness, and attention to detail.
• Ensure guest and member concerns are handled with care, ownership, urgency, and effective follow-through.

Pool, Recreation & Pool Food and Beverage

• Lead all pool operations, including pool recreation, cabanas, guest activities, and the pool Food & Beverage team.
• Develop and coach recreation and pool Food & Beverage leaders and colleagues to deliver consistent service, quality, safety, and financial performance.
• Elevate pool dining, beverage, cabana, amenity, and activity experiences while protecting a relaxed and refined resort atmosphere.
• Drive pool-related revenue, utilization, and profitability through thoughtful pricing, programming, retail, merchandising, and seasonal activations.
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, responsible service, and facility presentation expectations.

Membership, Programming & Miraval Partnership

• Lead membership enrollment, retention, engagement, communications, and exclusive experiences that increase loyalty and utilization.
• Direct the annual resort programming calendar and ensure offerings appeal to resort guests, members, families, groups, and the local community.
• Serve as the resort operational liaison and strategic partner to Miraval Life in Balance Spa leadership.
• Collaborate with Miraval on wellness programming and resort-wide initiatives while respecting Miraval leadership's direct oversight of spa managers and daily spa operations.

Retail & Financial Performance

• Make retail a key focus across every assigned area, including pool, cabanas, recreation, programming, membership, and wellness-related experiences.
• Develop relevant products, presentation, merchandising, and promotional strategies that enhance the guest experience and generate incremental revenue.
• Monitor retail sales, inventory controls, margins, sell-through, and profitability in partnership with department leaders.
• Achieve revenue, profit, labor, and expense objectives; prepare operating and capital budgets; and adjust plans based on business trends.
• Identify new revenue opportunities while maintaining appropriate cost controls and service quality.

Leadership & Talent Development

• Recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing leaders and colleagues across diverse operating teams.
• Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, innovation, and service excellence.
• Maintain a highly visible, hands-on presence with guests, members, and colleagues during peak operating periods.
• Serve as an active Leadership Committee member and contribute to broader resort strategy, planning, and execution.

Wage Information

The salary range for this position is $129,900 to $173,250. This is the pay range for this position that Park Hyatt Aviara reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education.
