Job summary

This senior role partners with University Communications and Marketing and serves as the primary communications advisor to the Vice Chancellor for Research.

You will direct a team of writers, producers, and designers, develop executive communications and thought leadership, and shape storytelling for the UNC

Qualifications

• Hold a post-baccalaureate degree with 3+ years of related experience, or a bachelor's with 5+ years.
• 8 years of experience managing projects and communications for a large, complex organization.
• Prefer 10+ years overseeing a communications office in a matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead integrated communications strategy across the Office of Research Communications portfolio.
• Oversee a team of writers, storytellers, producers, and designers.
• Develop executive communications and thought leadership that position senior leaders as public voices.
• Produce research impact storytelling for the UNC Research website and Endeavors magazine.
• Direct compliance and policy communications to a 20,000-member research community.
• Create stakeholder and philanthropic materials for donors, legislators, and federal partners.
• Run community engagement efforts including OVCR Office Hours and University Research Week.
