Position Summary:
The Director of Rehabilitation Services oversees the physical, occupational, and speech therapy departments to ensure the delivery of high-quality rehab services in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements:
- Active license in physical (BSPT, MSPT, DPT, or PTA), occupational (BSOT, MSOT, COTA), or speech (MA, MS, CCC SLP, or CFY SLP) therapy, meeting the educational requirements specified for that license type.
- Current registration/license with the applicable State, maintained in good standing throughout employment.
- At least two (2) years of supervisory experience in post-acute care or a related setting.
- CPR certification at hire or obtained during orientation, and maintained current during employment.
Specific Job Requirements:
- Coordinate with patients, families, and support departments to plan for patient needs.
- Possess functional knowledge of payer reimbursement, labor management strategies, and supply budgets.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
- Exercise good body mechanics at all times.
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
- Be knowledgeable of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines relevant to post-acute care functions.
- Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, policies, and procedures.
- Perform proficiently in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and vendors.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information.
- Follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.
- Adhere to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and complete mandatory compliance training.
Essential Functions:
- Recruit, select, hire, evaluate, train, counsel, and supervise rehab staff.
- Oversee and evaluate therapy students' care.
- Lead the growth and maintenance of rehab programs.
- Function as a staff therapist as caseload requires.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels.
- Utilize therapy software accurately.
- Manage department budget effectively.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude.
- Assist in patient evacuation when necessary.
- Maintain dependable attendance.
- Use reasoning skills and good judgment.
- Communicate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Perform physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during work hours.
- Read, write, speak, and understand English.
