Job summary

Cooper University Health Care in New Jersey seeks a Director of Provider Compensation to lead the compensation function, align strategy with recruitment and growth, and ensure fair market value across markets. You will partner with senior leadership to shape policies and drive data-driven decisions.

Minimum 7 years of accounting experience (healthcare or public accounting preferred) and proven management experience are required; a BS in Accounting or Finance is required, MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee provider compensation models; ensure FMV and regulatory compliance across markets.
  • Develop reports and dashboards to communicate compensation principles and data-driven insights to staff and operations.

Short Description

The Director Provider Compensation administers, coordinates and evaluates the Physician Compensation Program for Cooper Healthcare. Aligns Sr. Physician Leadership strategy with the core operations of the Physician Compensation program.

Strategic Leadership & Vision
  • Lead and develop the Provider Compensation team, aligning compensation programs with recruitment and growth strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, including Finance and Physician senior leadership, to develop and implement compensation strategies that support organizational objectives.
  • Provide input on new strategies, policies, and procedures for provider compensation, ensuring they are tailored to each market and specialty.
Compensation Model Management
  • Design, oversee, and analyze provider compensation models, ensuring they are commercially reasonable, compliant with regulations, and consistent with fair market value.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing compensation practices, assessing changes to align with industry trends and organizational goals.
  • Perform compensation modeling and analyses, making data-driven analysis for compensation structures and rates across various markets.
  • Prepare and validate provider contract request forms, ensuring accuracy and timely approval.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and educational tools to communicate compensation principles, processes, and data-driven insights to staff and operations.
  • Collect, consolidate, and analyze data related to compensation, including financial, productivity, and quality metrics, ensuring data integrity and rectifying inconsistencies.
  • Design and implement standardized processes for productivity and compensation report distribution, supporting transparency and informed decision-making.
Regulatory Compliance & Fair Market Value
  • Ensure all provider compensation arrangements are aligned with fair market value principles and comply with federal and state regulations.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes, making recommendations to ensure competitive and compliant compensation practices.
Operational & Budgetary Oversight
  • Manage day-to-day budgetary responsibilities, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial requirements.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, optimizing operations and supporting quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support new programs, integration efforts, and mergers/acquisitions, providing analysis and recommendations for continuous improvement.
General Responsibilities
  • Perform related duties as required, including participating in quality improvement initiatives and customer service enhancements.
  • Exercise independent judgment in decision-making, analysis, and problem-solving, ensuring systematic and logical approaches to challenges.

Tailor communication strategies to diverse audiences, providing clear, concise, and respectful information exchange.

Experience Required

Minimum of 7 years’ experience in accounting with direct healthcare or public accounting experience preferred.

Management experience required or demonstrated through previous job experience and responsibilities.

Education Requirements

Bachelors of Science in Accounting or Finance required, MBA degree preferred.
