Job Summary: The Director of Project Finance will lead all financial aspects of hotel transitions, brand conversions, and management takeovers across Rebel Hotel Company’s portfolio. Based in New York City, this role is highly collaborative and operationally embedded, supporting ownership groups, accounting teams, and hotel leadership through the full lifecycle of each transition.
This position serves as the primary leader for all transition-related financial tasks, ensuring continuity, compliance, and fiscal discipline from pre-opening to full integration. Task force travel is required to support on-site stabilization and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial functions during hotel transitions, including management takeovers and brand conversions
- Serve as primary financial liaison between outgoing operator, Rebel Hotel Company, and property ownership
- Compare and reconcile financial records, operating practices, and benefit structures between outgoing and incoming operators
- Provide detailed benefit and cost comparisons (e.g., payroll, insurance, retirement contributions, bonuses, PTO) to stakeholders during the transition process
- Coordinate with accounting, HR, and operations teams to ensure smooth implementation of Rebel financial systems and standards
- Implement internal controls and reporting protocols as part of the transition process
- Support due diligence activities and prepare onboarding materials for Rebel property finance teams
- Standardize transition documentation, reporting tools, and processes for use across future Rebel Hotel Company assignments
- Act as task force lead on-site to stabilize hotel financial operations and support local teams post-transition
- Travel to properties as needed to oversee and execute financial components of each transition
Required Skills, Experience And Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Hospitality Management, or related field
- 7+ years of hotel finance or property-level accounting experience, preferably with exposure to brand or operator transitions
- Strong knowledge of hotel payroll systems, HR benefit structures, and comparative cost analysis
- Proven ability to lead transition processes with clear communication, organization, and accountability
- Excellent interpersonal skills and executive presence; able to interface effectively with owners, brand partners, and property teams
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including extended stays, as part of task force assignments and transition leadership
- Proficiency with Excel and hotel accounting/reporting systems (e.g., M3, ProfitSword, Infor, Opera, or similar)
