Job summary

Stanford Health Care seeks a Director of Professional Coding to lead the enterprise coding strategy, governance, and operations across the organization and School of Medicine. You will oversee ICD/CPT coding, pre-bill quality reviews, audit programs, education, and performance improvement initiatives.

This role partners with clinical leaders to ensure documentation integrity, regulatory compliance, and optimal revenue cycle performance, while guiding staffing, budgets, and technology

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a work-related field.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership in coding or revenue cycle.
• Experience with coding governance, audits, and education programs.
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA, regulatory requirements, and payer rules.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise professional coding strategy, governance, and standards.
• Develop and monitor coding KPIs, productivity, and quality metrics.
• Oversee coding quality, audit strategy, education programs, and coaching.
• Manage enterprise-wide coding audit program and action plans.
• Provide guidance on documentation integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with clinical leaders to improve coding and reimbursement.
