Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead the Prime MEP division in Seattle, WA. You will manage the estimating process, drive technology initiatives, and coordinate with unit managers to ensure successful project setup and execution.

Must have 10 years with an electrical contractor, strong MS Office skills, and experience in cost/estimating methods. Eligible for a comprehensive benefits package and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Must have demonstrated proficiency for all the responsibilities of a Pre-Construction leader and estimating manager.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management or equivalent electrical construction experience required.
• Experience in financial/performance contracting required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals and estimates required.
• Knowledge of building infrastructure mechanical and electrical systems required.
• Ten (10) years of experience with an electrical construction contractor.
• Knowledge of cost and estimating methods and platforms required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares quantitative estimates using McKinstry estimating platforms.
• Manages conceptual and quantitative estimating processes.
• Drives technology initiatives into processes for the group.
• Manages standard operating procedures and Project Life Cycle requirements for both cost and operationally focused preconstruction tasks.
• Coordinates with Business Unit Managers, Project Executives and Project Managers to ensure successful set up and execution of projects.
• Manages the internal pre-construction processes.
• Train team members on cost and estimating methods and platforms.
• Coach and develop pre-construction team members.
• Selects, develops, and manages employees.
• Responsible for integrating the preconstruction team cohesively into the culture of each Electrical Business Units.
