Job summary

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a Director of Development, Planned Giving (DODPG) to lead efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward planned giving donors, with a focus on planned gifts of $25,000 or greater.

Reporting to and collaborating with the Director of Planned Giving, the DODPG will advise donors, faculty, and Advancement staff on planned and deferred giving opportunities, including bequests, trusts, beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, retirement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required, four years of related professional work experience OR Master’s/Professional Degree (JD, CPA, CFP) and two years of related professional work experience.
• Experience in higher education fundraising or nonprofit work with strong relationship-building and outcome-driven components recommended.
• JD, CPA, CFP or advanced degree in business/finance is strongly recommended with demonstrated success.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward planned giving donors, focusing on gifts of $25,000 or greater.
• Advise donors, faculty, and Advancement staff on planned and deferred giving opportunities (bequests, trusts, life insurance, etc.).
• Manage a portfolio of planned giving prospects and serve as liaison to colleges, schools, and units across the University.
• Prepare gift-related agreements and documentation; support donor stewardship and solicitation strategies.
• Assist with training Advancement staff on planned giving and support related committees and marketing efforts.
