We’re looking for a strategic, detail-driven, and people-first Director of People Operations to lead the execution and evolution of our core People processes—including payroll, benefits, HR systems, compliance, and vendor partnerships—with an eye toward scale, efficiency, and most importantly, the employee experience. As a key leader on the People team, you’ll be responsible for building and delivering a People Operations function that’s operationally excellent, emotionally intelligent, and built to support a fast-growing, dynamic organization. You’ll design and improve systems and workflows to ensure our team members experience People Ops as both reliable and human.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Ownership & Execution Excellence: Lead day-to-day operations across payroll, benefits, onboarding, compliance, and HRIS with accuracy, timeliness, and empathy.
- Process Design for Scale: Develop and continuously improve core People Ops processes that are built to scale as the business grows—identifying inefficiencies, gaps, and opportunities for automation.
- Systems & Vendor Management: Own the strategy and execution of HR systems (e.g., HRIS, payroll, benefits platforms), and manage key vendor relationships to ensure accountability, service, and value.
- Compliance & Risk Mitigation: Ensure full compliance with employment laws and regulations across locations. Develop operational policies and internal controls that support growth and mitigate risk.
- Employee Experience Champion: Balance process rigor with a warm, human approach—ensuring People Ops processes reflect our values and support a positive, seamless employee experience.
- Data & Reporting Leadership: Ensure operational data integrity and deliver metrics and insights that support decision-making and leadership visibility.
- Team Development & Leadership: Build, coach, and develop a high-performing People Operations team with clear roles, career paths, and a culture of service excellence.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of HR or People Operations experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
- Proven success managing multi-functional People Ops responsibilities in a high-growth or multi-site and multi-state organization
- Deep experience with HRIS, payroll systems, benefits administration, and vendor management
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Systems-thinker with a bias for execution and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication and people skills—you bring both structure and heart to your work
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field; advanced degree or certification a plus
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and collaborate across all levels of the business
- High EQ, excellent communication skills, and a bias for action and results
- Strong communication skills are a must
- Advanced project management and execution skills (Project or Change Management Certification is preferred)
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Possesses intellectual curiosity; brings insight into the team & business
