Job description

We are seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as Director of People and Culture. Our company has a strong, high-performance culture and has been recognized perennially as a “Best Place to Work.” We will be scaling from 300 to 500+ teammates over the next 18-24 months.

This new position will focus on developing programs for, and providing hands-on coaching to, the 40 people leaders who manage operational functions across the organization (from supervisors to VP level). This individual will also oversee the teams responsible for talent acquisition, employee engagement and retention programs, GxP training, and HR administration.

The right candidate will have a strong track record as a leader of front-line staff AND people leaders, and a well-defined toolkit for great leadership and management practices. You will also have experience in an entrepreneurial, high-growth organization(s), whose team included significant scientific/engineering and front-line/production functions.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Help the company achieve operational excellence by curating a high-performance, continuous-improvement culture that delivers outstanding outcomes for our stakeholders – patients, customers, employees and investors – at pace and at scale.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align P&C initiatives with business goals, which will be dynamic and aggressive.
  • Directly lead a high-performing team of 7 professionals and 3 key outsourced/partner relationships.
  • Define and communicate the difference between good and world-class leadership and management practices. Provide hands-on coaching to people leaders across the entire organization, from front-line supervisors to the ELT.
  • Oversee the talent acquisition function to ensure effective recruitment strategies and processes in a high-growth environment.
  • Oversee employee engagement and retention programs to enhance workplace satisfaction and retention.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development and oversee the GxP training function to ensure world-class quality and compliance.
  • Advise & coach stakeholders on the effective management of a full spectrum of employee relations issues and complex people management issues.
Special Job Requirements:
  • General management orientation: results-driven, KPI- and ROI-minded leader, with a high bar for quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to apply structure, process, and systems to an evolving environment, while remaining agile and enhancing the entrepreneurial spirit of the business.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage at all levels of a complex organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to create personnel and expense forecasts and financial models.
  • Fluency with the design of performance feedback systems and incentive compensation plans, which align with organizational workstreams.
  • Conversant with all legal matters that affect employment, compensation and related topics.
  • Desire to work primarily on-site and in support of a 24/5 operation.
  • Bachelor's degree required; experience in a technical field (science, engineering, operations, etc) preferred. Pharma/cGMP experience is a definite plus but not required.
  • Demonstrated track record of increasing scope and responsibilities at the senior management level in a sophisticated, technology-driven company; minimum of 15 years of people/process/project management experience, including 5 years at a senior management level.
