Job summary

Pali Institute is seeking an Outdoor Education Director in Running Springs, CA to lead a year‑round program, oversee long‑term goals, mentor staff, and ensure high standards across all operations. The role reports to the Executive Director and supervises directors, staff supervisors, and 110+ instructors.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree, extensive leadership experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher is required.
• 5 years in a management, supervisor or leadership position in a similar styled program required.
• 10 seasons of mentoring camp counselors, instructors, or similar roles.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate concerns, feedback and information to staff, administration, teachers and parents.
• Must be a positive leader with strong supervisory and management skills.
• Openness to feedback and desire to grow professionally.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Experience as a group counselor or staff member in an overnight camp setting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise 110+ instructor staff and 24 leadership staff.
• Provide mentorship to Assistant Directors and Staff Supervisors.
• Align program with client expectations and needs.
• Support leadership staff with guidance and feedback.
• Collaborate with Executive Director on long-term goals and strategy.
• Ensure staff discipline and timely communication of issues.
• Coordinate staff training and wellness program transitions.
• Assist sales director with calendar decisions and events.
