Job summary

Methodist Hospital for Surgery in Addison, TX, seeks an experienced leader to oversee the efficient operations of the Operating Room and Sterile Processing.

This role requires Texas RN licensure and a minimum of 3 years in OR management or supervision. AORN Certification and Master’s degree are preferred; strong communication and conflict-management skills, plus proficiency with Excel and Epic, are valued.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in Texas.
• Minimum of 3 years OR management or supervisory experience.
• AORN Certification preferred.
• Master’s Degree preferred.
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in managing conflict in stressful conditions.
• Excel skills and Epic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hire, schedule, and evaluate performance of OR and Sterile Processing staff.
• Implement strategies to optimize surgeon and patient satisfaction and employee engagement.
• Coordinate with surgeons, vendors, and others to ensure proper staffing and supplies for surgical cases.
• Oversee procurement of equipment and budgeting for capital needs.
• Coordinate with Biomed, Facilities Management, and vendors to maintain equipment.
• Ensure instruments are sterilized properly and stored correctly.
• Review data to monitor quality, efficiency, and utilization of OR/Sterile Processing.
• Ensure staff maintain licensure and attend required training.
• Communicate effectively across departments regarding surgery schedule and needs.
• Collaborate with Chief Nursing Officer to align policies and standards.
• Delegate and coach staff to improve performance.
• Communicate with staff, peers, administration, physicians, patients and families.
