Job summary

Smiths Group, through its DRC Heat Transfer subsidiary, seeks a Director of Operations in Melrose Park, IL. The role leads manufacturing strategy, drives Lean and CI, and ensures safety, quality, and on-time delivery across a fast-growing operations landscape.

You will manage multi-site manufacturing with a focus on scaling, cost control, and workforce development, reporting to the leadership team and collaborating with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership, coaching, and employee development.
• Strong data-driven decision-making and critical thinking.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Willingness to travel between local facilities; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to drive performance and cost objectives.
• Hold full P&L responsibility for manufacturing operations and drive financial targets.
• Develop and execute short- and long-term manufacturing strategies, including capacity expansion and workforce planning.
• Oversee master production scheduling to ensure on-time delivery and optimal resource use.
• Champion Lean, 6S, and CI methodologies to reduce waste and improve quality.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to hit business goals.
• Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with all policies and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor and develop leaders; build a strong succession pipeline.
