Job summary

AMAX in Fremont, CA is seeking a Director of Operations to lead IT infrastructure and server rack manufacturing operations, driving efficiency, on-time fulfillment, and compliance with quality and safety standards. This role requires a strategic leader with 10+ years of manufacturing operations experience and a Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred).

You will build cross-functional teams and implement Lean/Six Sigma to optimize performance.

Job description

The Director of Operations is responsible for leading and optimizing all operational functions within a fast-paced IT infrastructure and server rack manufacturing environment. This role drives operational excellence by improving processes, enhancing cross-functional collaboration, ensuring on-time order fulfillment, and maintaining compliance with quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate is a leader with a strong manufacturing background and a proven ability to improve efficiency, productivity, and organizational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence & Process Optimization

• Analyze and improve operational workflows to eliminate bottlenecks, increase efficiency, and reduce operating costs.
• Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and best practices.

Leadership & Team Development

• Conduct performance evaluations and establish measurable objectives.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Order Fulfillment & Supply Chain Coordination

• Partner with supply chain, purchasing, production, and planning teams to ensure timely material availability and production schedules.
• Oversee material planning, inventory optimization, shortage tracking, and demand forecasting.
• Ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on schedule while maintaining inventory targets.

Strategic Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

• Investigate operational issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve operational performance, quality, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive operations management experience, including leadership within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in IT infrastructure, electronics manufacturing, server rack manufacturing, or related industries is highly preferred.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
• MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency with ERP systems.
• Experience with production planning, inventory management, and supply chain operations.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
