Job summary

Dondlinger Construction Company is seeking a Director of Operations & Fleet Management to oversee the procurement, maintenance, and lifecycle management of a 600+ piece heavy equipment fleet, plus day-to-day yard operations. The role ensures equipment reliability, cost control, and readiness across active job sites.

You will supervise shop and yard staff, manage vendor relationships, and guide budgeting, scheduling, and data-driven decisions to optimize utilization and safety across multiple

Qualifications

• 5+ years managing a large fleet of heavy equipment within construction or related industry.
• Experience managing yard operations, materials handling, and inventory control.
• Experience with fleet management software and telematics.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements related to fleet operations.
• Proven experience managing equipment budgets, cost controls, and vendor negotiations.
• Supervisory experience managing mechanics, technicians, and yard staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage lifecycle of a 600+ piece heavy equipment fleet, including procurement, maintenance, and disposal.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs, inspections, and repair tracking.
• Supervise shop operations and contractor/vendor relationships.
• Coordinate equipment scheduling across active job sites and negotiate with vendors for parts and services.
• Support preconstruction teams with equipment input during bidding.
• Lead yard operations, ensure inventory organization of material and aggregate yards.
• Provide regular status reports on fleet condition and costs to align resources with project needs.
