Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the performance and execution of multiple electrical construction projects.
• Manage and develop Project Managers, Project Engineers, and operational personnel.
• Establish consistent project delivery processes, controls, and operational best practices.
• Maintain oversight of project financials, including budgets, forecasts, cost-to-complete reporting, labor projections, and profitability.
• Review estimates, change management, subcontract agreements, and significant material/procurement packages.
• Work alongside executive leadership to maintain strong performance across safety, schedule, quality, and financial targets.
• Assess manpower requirements, project staffing, and resource allocation across the portfolio.
• Coordinate closely with field leadership, BIM/VDC, safety, and quality teams throughout project delivery.
• Identify and develop future leaders through mentoring, training, coaching, and performance management.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and strengthen operational performance.

Gryphon Oakwood is working with an established electrical contractor to identify a Director of Operations to lead and strengthen its construction operations across the Phoenix market. This position will have responsibility for a portfolio of complex electrical projects, requiring leadership across project teams, financial performance, resource planning, and overall execution. The Director will play a key role in improving operational consistency, protecting project profitability, and developing the next generation of leadership within the business.

This opportunity is well suited to an experienced electrical construction professional who has successfully managed multiple large-scale electrical projects and built high-performing operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the performance and execution of multiple electrical construction projects throughout the Phoenix region
• Manage and develop Project Managers, Project Engineers, and various operational personnel

• Track record of overseeing multiple project teams and large-scale commercial electrical projects
• Strong knowledge of construction operations, project controls, scheduling, forecasting, budgeting, labor planning, and cost management
• Experience evaluating estimates, change orders, subcontracts, procurement strategies, and project financials
• Demonstrated success building and developing strong project management teams
• Commercially focused with a strong understanding of project margins, profitability, and operational performance
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred
