Position Summary:

The Director of Operations job entails overseeing all levels of care and operational functions across the campus. This position provides strategic and operational oversight and compliance responsibility of all service lines, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing. This role is responsible for leading initiatives to improve operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and resident satisfaction. This position requires full understanding and active participation of employee's role in fulfilling the Organization's mission. The employee is expected to demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values and support the Organization's strategic plan and goals. The Director of Operations reports direct to the CEO/President/ED.



Essential Functions:


  • Oversee day-to-day operations across all levels of care (Independent, Assisted, Memory, and Skilled Nursing).

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including those from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Department of Public Health (DPH), and Department of Social Services (DSS).

  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and performance benchmarks.

  • Provide leadership and strategic guidance to SNF and RCFE administrators to drive financial performance, clinical excellence, and person-centered services throughout the care continuum, quality outcomes, infection control, staffing, occupancy, and resident satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with outside support services to ensure quality services and standards.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with SNF KPIs such as census, quality measures (QMs), rehospitalization rates, and CMS star ratings.

  • Ensure readiness for surveys and audits, lead response plans for deficiencies.

  • Support adopting electronic health records (EHR) and other technologies that improve care delivery and documentation.

  • Assist Executive Director to oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

  • Monitor operational costs, identify improved efficiency opportunities, and control cost.

  • Review and analyze monthly financial statements, occupancy reports, and departmental budgets and implement operational adjustments as needed.

  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans and capital projects.

  • Participate in board meetings and committees as required, providing operational KPI, updates and performance metrics.

  • Lead and/or support major initiatives such as renovations, service line expansion, or technology upgrades as directed by Executive Director.

  • Lead, in collaboration with Executive Director employee engagement, training, and retention efforts.

  • Support annual audits, and confirm internal controls are effective, and adhered to.

  • Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times.

  • Promote the safety, health, and welfare of staff and residents at all times.

  • Acts as a positive role model and mentor for staff.

  • Adheres to company policies, Corporate Compliance and Ethics Program, and Code of Conduct.



  • Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Gerontology, Business, Finance, or related field required (Master's preferred).

  • Residential Care Facility for Elderly (RCFE) Administrator Certification and Nursing Home Administrator License (NHA) required.

  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in senior living or long-term care, including Skilled Nursing Facility oversight.

  • Strong financial acumen; including forecasting budget needs and managing departments within budget to meet the financial goals and expectations of OCW.

  • Knowledge of Medicare/ Medicaid reimbursement models, PDPM, MDS, and SNF regulatory frameworks.

  • Proven record of improving operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and resident satisfaction.

  • Experience in a nonprofit or mission-based organization strongly preferred.

  • If required to operate a company vehicle during employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible driver. Must possess a current State Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.

  • Must have excellent organization and time management skills.

  • The candidate must be able to communicate effectively, practically, neutrally, and professionally with all levels of staff.

  • Ability to function as a team member in a multi-task environment.

  • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and changing business conditions.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test.
