Job summary

CityBus is seeking a Director of Operations to lead and optimize our transportation operations in Greater Lafayette. You will oversee fixed-route and demand-response services, drive staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and performance decisions, and partner with the CEO and Board to advance our mission.

As a senior leader, you will develop managers, set clear expectations, and rely on data and frontline insight to improve safety, efficiency, and customer focus across the network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field; seven years in transit/transport ops with leadership responsibility; safety-sensitive requirements including background checks and testing.

We are looking for a Director of Operations to provide leadership and direction for our transportation operations. As a member of the senior leadership team, you will lead fixed-route and demand-response service; develop and support a strong operations leadership team; oversee staffing, scheduling, budget, performance, and resource decisions; and collaborate across the organization to strengthen service delivery. You will also serve as a trusted operational partner to the CEO and Board, bringing insight, recommendations, and practical solutions that advance CityBus’s mission.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certification Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Logistics, Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience may be considered.
• At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in transit or transportation operations, including significant leadership and supervisory responsibility. Public transit experience is strongly preferred.
• Must meet agency standards for motor vehicle licensing, drug screening, criminal background clearance, and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing as a safety-sensitive employee.
