Responsibilities
The Department Manager oversees the food service at a single site, ensuring high standards in food quality, inventory, safety, and customer service. Responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting the food service team to meet quality and safety standards.
- Maintaining accurate records of financials, supplies, personnel, and equipment using HCSG software.
- Conducting staff training, quality control, and in-service sessions; performing roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher as needed.
- Communicating effectively with client managers, staff, and administrators.
- Ensuring safety protocols, equipment maintenance, and sanitation standards are followed.
- Maintaining punctuality and professionalism.
- Representing HCSG positively in interactions.
- Performing any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in food service management, hospitality, or related coursework preferred.
- Two years of experience in food production/service and supervision preferred.
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred (or as required by law).
- Must obtain Food Protection Manager (FPM) certification within 14 days of employment.
- Must obtain Food Service Manager (FSM) and LTC-FSM certifications within 60 days.
- Strong communication skills.
- Positive attitude and effective communication skills.
- Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to perform routine tasks and work with food and cleaning products.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
- Residency within the service area required.
