Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Nursing Professional Development Leader to supervise Educators and drive the design and evaluation of education programs. You will lead orientation, competency validation, and ongoing professional development aligned with SPIRIT values and regulatory standards.

You will collaborate with nursing leaders, informatics, and education teams to implement best practices, track outcomes, and foster evidence-based practice across the department.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing or Nursing Education is required.
• 3-4 years in progressively responsible nursing roles.
• Experience in nursing education or professional development in acute care is required.
• Leadership or supervisory experience leading a team of 15+ nursing educators is highly preferred.
• NPD/CNE certifications preferred or required within 2 years; CPR required.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, development, execution, and evaluation of the nursing education program.
• Ensure adherence to MedStar Health policies and accreditation standards.
• Oversee orientation and transition-to-practice programs for new staff and nurses.
• Develop competency validation programs and document participation and outcomes.
• Manage department budget and supervise staff performance.
