Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school and active RN license required.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Director of Nursing in long-term care.

Job description

Lancaster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to join our team.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Ensuring nursing staff is providing quality and appropriate resident/patient care that meets or exceeds company and regulatory standards.
  2. Ensuring compliance with state, federal and licensing agency regulatory standards.
  3. Leading and/or participating in Quality Improvement (QI) groups and other multidisciplinary meetings.
  4. May assist with recruiting, hiring, providing orientation/training, and retaining a sufficient number of qualified staff to carry out the responsibilities of nursing services.
  5. Ensures employee performance meets or exceeds expectations and periodic performance appraisals are conducted on a timely basis.
  6. Assists with scheduling and performing rounds to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care.
  7. Assists in maintaining administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for the proper charting and documentation of care and of medications and treatments.
  8. Responsible for quality assurance, infection control, and the development of staff.
  9. Helps develop and implement the written staffing plan and nursing schedule that reflects the needs of the resident population.
  10. Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
  11. Adheres to scope of practice limitations based on qualifications.
  12. May occasionally be required to perform patient care duties.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  2. Active RN License in the State of Pennsylvania.
  3. Minimum of 1 year professional nursing experience in long-term care setting.
  4. Minimum of 2 years experience working as a DON.
  5. Possess a working knowledge and ability to apply standards of professional nursing practice in job situations.
  6. Ability to develop nursing policies and procedures that reflect current clinical practice, professional standards, and facility philosophy of care.
  7. Knowledge of and ability to apply current principles of infection control to facility and resident specific situations.
  8. Knowledge of MDS and Care Planning Process.
  9. Current knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations that apply to practice of nursing in long term care.
