This is a rare opportunity to join a respected, family-owned healthcare system with deep roots in the community and a reputation for compassionate, forward-thinking care.

Since 1982, Whittier has stood apart—not just for our clinical excellence, but for the way we treat people. That means patients, staff, and leadership alike. Our Director of Nursing isn’t just another title on the org chart—you’ll be a driving force in a culture built on integrity, trust, and family values.

As DON, you’ll oversee nursing operations across our Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF), Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC), and specialty programs. You’ll shape standards, develop teams, and elevate patient outcomes—all in an environment that blends cutting-edge medical technology with a human-centered, collaborative approach to healing.

What You’ll Do:

Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary nursing team with a focus on quality, compassion, and accountability

Collaborate across departments to coordinate care and improve outcomes across diverse patient populations
Develop and implement clinical standards in alignment with regulatory and professional benchmarks
Oversee hiring, development, performance, and retention strategies for all nursing staff
Support and evaluate quality improvement initiatives and hospital-wide care plans
Help align financial planning with clinical priorities to support sustainable, excellent care
Guide the nurse education department and promote lifelong learning within your team

What We’re Looking For:

Active RN license in Massachusetts
Master’s degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field
At least 7 years of diverse clinical experience including med-surg, geriatrics, adolescent care, and rehab
Minimum 5 years in a leadership or academic role
Strong interpersonal skills with a natural drive to inspire, challenge, and support others
BLS certification required; ACLS and CRRN preferred

What Makes Whittier Different:

That means real investment in staff development, a culture of mutual respect, and a shared drive to push the standard of care forward. With the latest medical technology and a team of passionate clinicians by your side, you’ll have the tools and autonomy to make a real impact.

What We Offer:

401(k) with company contribution
Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
Paid time off for vacation, sick leave, and holidays
Short & Long-Term Disability
Life Insurance: Basic, Supplemental, and Term
Optional benefits including Critical Illness, Hospital, and Accident plans

If you’re ready to bring your leadership to a place that respects your voice, values your experience, and gives you room to lead with heart, Whittier is where you belong.
