Job type: Full-time

RWJBH is seeking a Director of Nursing in the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Clinic and CINJ Infection Prevention at the New Brunswick campus. This is a full-time, day position (40 hours/week).

Nursing Director
  • Provides supervision, guidance, and direction to staff nurses, medical health technicians, and advanced practice nurses within the department.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of clinical competence and the staff members' ability to manage and interpret clinical information accurately and timely.
  • Works collaboratively with all staff to ensure competence and adherence to CINJ standards of practice.
  • Encourages professional development of all staff and participation in related activities.
  • Utilizes performance improvement data collection and Press Ganey data to develop, implement, and monitor quality of patient care services in the area.
  • Prepares reports on these metrics for review by senior leadership.
  • Participates in planning and implementing strategies to meet regulatory and accreditation standards related to cancer care.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively plans staffing to meet patient care needs, balancing requests with unit needs to ensure patient safety and quality service delivery.
  • Performs direct patient care when needed.
  • Contributes to developing capital and operational budgets related to care delivery.
  • Collaborates with leadership to develop and implement professional development initiatives and educational strategies for staff.
  • Participates as an educator for nursing and patient education programs.
  • Contributes to policy and procedure development pertinent to service delivery.
  • Applies research findings and evidence-based practices to nursing care and promotes the same among staff.
  • Adheres to CINJ and RWJBH compliance standards and stays updated on relevant regulations and policies.
CINJ Infection Preventionist
  • Partners and communicates with RWJUH Infection Prevention leadership regarding developments affecting CINJ infection control.
  • Shares data and collaborates with RWJUH Infection Prevention team.
  • Aligns CINJ practices with RWJUH infection prevention standards.
  • Leads handwashing activities, observations, and compliance efforts.
  • Creates, revises, and updates infection prevention policies within CINJ.
  • Collaborates across RWJUH, RWJBH, and CINJ to enhance patient safety and infection control quality.
  • Interprets and supports implementation of infection prevention policies.
  • Responds promptly to infection prevention questions from staff, patients, families, and physicians.
  • Participates in surveillance activities to ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards.
  • Provides or participates in infection prevention education programs.
  • Analyzes infection data and trends, sharing findings appropriately.
  • Functions as a liaison between medical staff and CDC.
