Qualifications

  • Currently licensed as an RN in Illinois.
  • Five years of experience in long-term or acute healthcare preferred.
  • At least 2 years of nursing supervisory experience required.

Description:

The primary purpose of the Director of Nursing is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department while maintaining quality standards set forth by federal, state, and organizational guidelines.

Responsibilities for (DON):

  • Role model for the company’s Vision Statement and collaborates with the Administrator to ensure implementation and compliance.
  • Drive ongoing QAA processes, oversee milestone plans for performance improvement, and monitor clinical trends and outcomes.
  • Utilize TSI reports, CMS reports, current survey status, and clinical outcomes to monitor clinical progress monthly.
  • Communicate care delivery trends, issues, and opportunities to administration, the medical director, and the Quality Assurance Committee.
  • Anticipate customer needs and work to minimize potential problems.
  • Participate in and promote patients’ rights and customer service programs.
  • Ensure staff effectively utilize the compliment/complaint process.
  • Oversee the development of the nursing department structure and roles.
  • Establish and manage goals and objectives for the nursing department through analysis and strategic planning aligned with the company mission.
  • Lead nurse staff through effective team building, motivation, change management, time management, delegation, stress management, and communication.
  • Foster collegial relationships among nurse managers and other healthcare professionals.
  • Hire, educate, and counsel nursing leadership to participate in clinical oversight.
  • Maintain and evaluate an environment that empowers and supports nurse managers in problem-solving.

Qualifications for (DON):

  • Currently licensed as an RN in this state; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Five years of experience in long-term or acute healthcare preferred; at least 2 years of nursing supervisory experience required.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
