Job summary

WDIV in Detroit is seeking a Manager of Content and Coverage to lead the newsroom’s top franchises across platforms, oversee investigative and special projects, anchor reporting, weather, and sports, and drive digital, streaming, and social planning from day one.

You will guide product leaders, content creators, and on-air talent toward ambitious transformation goals, embracing change, ethical journalism, and bold storytelling in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large newsroom teams
• Strong news judgment and ethical journalism
• Ability to plan for multiple platforms (linear, digital, streaming, social)

Responsibilities

• Lead a diverse group of content professionals on the newsroom leadership team
• Prioritize and chase compelling content across all platforms using research and strategy
• Ensure seamless flow of content across linear and digital platforms and audiences
• Spearhead coverage of breaking news, pre-planned stories, and enterprise reporting
• Coordinate with stakeholders across linear, digital, streaming and sports units
• Lead hiring and training for content center staff
• Provide coaching and development opportunities for team members
• Monitor KPIs to guide content and coverage strategies
• Act as news director in absence and manage other duties as assigned
