Job summary

The Gathering seeks a Director of Missions to lead local and global mission strategy, partnering with schools, nonprofits, and communities across multiple sites. You will supervise the Literacy Partnership and coordinate service initiatives, while aligning all efforts with the church’s vision and values.

Ideal candidates bring strategic leadership, cross-cultural experience, and a proven track record in nonprofit or church-based service leadership, with strong communication and collaboration

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and project management skills.
• Deep passion for justice, compassion, and community transformation.
• Proven experience in mission, nonprofit, or church-based service leadership.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Comfortable managing volunteers, events, and logistics across multiple sites.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, congregants, and external partners.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace and digital communication tools.
• Experience navigating cross-cultural relationships with humility.
• Cross-cultural experience or international missions background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and shape The Gathering’s local and global mission strategy.
• Provide strategic leadership and supervision for The Literacy Partnership.
• Build and maintain strong, reciprocal relationships with schools, nonprofits, and community partners.
• Direct global mission partnerships, including Mozambique work.
• Plan and lead overseas mission trips in partnership with local communities.
• Track and share mission outcomes through metrics, stories, and reporting.
