Role Description

The Director of Member Relations is a full-time, on-site role based in Beaufort, South Carolina, responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with Chamber members.

Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with internal teams on marketing and programming, maintaining accurate membership records, preparing reports on membership trends, and supporting strategic initiatives to grow and retain membership. The role also represents the Chamber at community functions, builds partnerships with key stakeholders, and helps strengthen the organization's presence across the Beaufort region.

Qualifications

• Strong relationship management, member or client service, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse small business communities.
• Experience in event coordination, meeting facilitation, and community outreach to support member programming and networking activities.
• Proficiency in communication, including clear written and verbal skills, public speaking, and presentation capabilities.
• Organizational and administrative skills, including CRM or membership database management, reporting, and attention to detail.
• Background in business, nonprofit, association management, economic development, or related field; experience with chambers of commerce is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on-site with a small team, manage multiple priorities, and respond promptly to member needs.
• Bachelor's degree in business, communications, public relations, or a related discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Knowledge of the Beaufort/Lowcountry business community and comfort representing the Chamber at public events and with elected officials is highly beneficial.
