Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) seeks a Director of Operations & Manufacturing to lead manufacturing and distribution optimization for portfolio companies. You will collaborate with C‑suite and PE partners to design transformation plans, drive lean improvements, and manage cross-functional teams across facilities.

The role emphasizes end-to-end operational excellence, data-driven decision making, and value creation for private equity ownership.

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years of combined industry and consulting experience, with at least 4 years in manufacturing and/or distribution.
• Advisory experience from a top-tier strategy firm or Big Four required.
• Experience with private equity sponsors and portfolio companies.
• Functional expertise in Supply Chain/Manufacturing, Lean, CapEx, 4.0/IIoT, and plant optimization.
• Experience collaborating with C‑suite executives and PE deal teams.
• Strong analytical and process-mapping skills.
• Experience leading change/communications strategy.
• Strategy and change-management background.

Responsibilities

• Understand target’s manufacturing and distribution ops, including capacity, efficiency, quality, planning, and warehousing.
• Evaluate the maintainability and operability of production facilities.
• Review data on efficiency and capacity, including equipment status and maintenance records.
• Gather shop floor insights from staff and customers and data review.
• Identify cost-improvement opportunities through lean, outsourcing, or facility consolidation.
• Develop transformation plans and identify risks and mitigation strategies.
• Oversee deliverables quality and manage the team and day-to-day relationships.
