Job description

A leading manufacturer of paper-based consumer products is seeking a highly skilled and accomplished professional to lead its nationwide manufacturing operations. This role is based at the company’s flagship facility and reports directly to the President. The Director of Manufacturing will drive operational excellence, focusing on key performance indicators, quality management systems, and continuous improvement. The role requires collaboration with Human Resources to recruit, onboard, and develop future manufacturing talent. Customers in retail, distribution, food service, and e-commerce demand high-quality, timely deliveries—meeting and exceeding these expectations will be a core responsibility.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Oversee all manufacturing operations, facilities, and personnel.
  • Lead production planning, quality assurance, safety, compliance, engineering, maintenance, new product development, and capital expenditures.
  • Develop and manage the annual manufacturing budget, addressing variances proactively.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to align manufacturing goals with corporate objectives and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Direct recruitment, hiring, and training for key manufacturing roles.
  • Supervise manufacturing leadership and department heads, utilizing performance management systems to set goals and assess progress.
  • Partner with executive leadership to ensure supply chain efficiency and timely order fulfillment.
  • Optimize the company’s manufacturing footprint to improve cost efficiency and operational effectiveness.
  • Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Define and implement the strategic direction for manufacturing operations.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field (graduate degree preferred).
  • 12-15 years of progressive manufacturing experience in fast-paced, high-volume environments, with at least four years in leadership roles.
  • Expertise in Lean and World Class Manufacturing methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, TPM, 5S, PDCA, SMED, SPC).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop talent.
  • Financial acumen, including experience managing budgets and analyzing financial statements.
  • Hands-on, proactive leadership style with a results-driven mindset.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
