Job summary

Fervo Energy is seeking a Director of Software Engineering based in Oakland, CA to lead the internal application layer development. This role reports directly to the CTO and is crucial for building systems that combine data and AI to enhance workflows.

The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role, and is expected to manage a team of engineers while developing scalable software products for various operational needs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a technical leadership or engineering management role.
• Experience building and deploying production full-stack or backend applications in cloud environments.
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals, including modern programming languages and API design.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and manage technical roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Own the internal application architecture.
• Lead the development of internal applications.
• Embed directly with operational teams to understand workflows.
