Job summary

The School of American Ballet seeks a Director of Institutional Giving to lead and grow its foundation, government, and corporate giving programs. This full-time role reports to the Chief Development and Marketing Officer and supervises one staff member.

You will manage a strategy to raise over $1.5 million annually, steward donors, and collaborate with SAB leadership, volunteers, and boards to advance capital and endowment campaigns. Evening and weekend events are expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of demonstrated success in institutional giving; knowledge of New York area funders.
• Excellent written and oral communication; budgeting and data analysis.
• Proven track record of securing gifts at the $100,000+ level.
• Polished and professional demeanor; ability to speak on behalf of the School.
• Proficiency in donor databases such as Raiser's Edge.

Responsibilities

• Manage and expand institutional giving strategy to secure gifts; guides donor engagement.
• Build relationships with foundations, corporate and government donors.
• Identify prospects; solicit and secure gifts; collaborate with staff and volunteers.
• Submit proposals, reports, and budgets for programs and scholarships.
• Oversee donor communications, acknowledgments, invitations, and events.
• Partner with Board and leadership on fundraising strategy and campaigns.
• Supervise Institutional Giving staff and maintain donor records.
• Manage the department budget and related expenses.
