Job summary

Petco seeks a Director of Technology Infrastructure Architecture to lead a new, security-first TIA function across cloud, on‑prem and endpoints. You will partner with leadership, drive secure-by-design practices, and accelerate delivery through automation and IaC, while mentoring a team of architects and engineers.

You will champion zero trust, govern cloud costs, and guide strategic tech initiatives that improve store and enterprise operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Network Engineering, Enterprise Security, or Systems Architecture with leadership experience.
• Strong executive communication and collaboration with senior leadership.
• Experience embedding security into enterprise infrastructure and projects.

Responsibilities

• Builds and leads the Technology Infrastructure Architecture function with security at design phase.
• Define long-range secure infrastructure strategy across cloud, on-prem, and endpoints.
• Liaise between TIA, IT leadership, Security, and Engineering to ensure early engagement.
• Lead architecture reviews, KPI tracking, and cross-functional teams.
• Drive secure-by-design principles, zero trust, threat modeling, and segmentation.
• Enforce security reference architectures across designs and reviews.
• Hands-on prototyping, reference architectures, and engineer enablement.
• Manage implementation, change management, and rollout across stores and enterprise.
• Partner with Network Operations to ensure operability and transition to support.
• Own budget planning for TIA including FinOps and investments.
• Promote automation and infrastructure-as-code, with AI-driven ops.
• Pilot emerging networking tech before broad adoption.
• Identify interdependencies and drive continuous improvement.
• Recruit and mentor architects and engineers; build ownership culture.
• Manage strategic vendor relationships.
