Job summary

United Way of Greater Charlotte is seeking a Director of Research and Evaluation to lead data strategy, program evaluation, and reporting across a four-county footprint. The role partners with leadership to translate complex data into actionable insights for programs, funders, and stakeholders.

Hybrid work arrangement in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will guide a team, manage budgets, and advance a collective impact approach with rigorous measurement and storytelling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
• Five or more years of progressive experience in data and program evaluation.
• Supervisory experience including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Expertise in evaluation frameworks and methodologies.
• Experience with mixed methods data collection and analysis.
• Nonprofit data management or CRM experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in data analysis and survey software (SAS, SPSS, GIS, Tableau, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey).
• Strong organizational, writing, and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of collective impact and shared measurement frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead the organization's data strategy and program evaluation across four-county footprint.
• Translate complex data into insight for funders, board, and staff.
• Build and maintain data collection tools and protocols; ensure data quality.
• Develop and monitor evaluation plans, logic models, and reports.
• Manage budget, staffing, and operational aspects of research and evaluation.
• Represent UWGC at community events, conferences, and speaking engagements.
• Partner with leadership to provide actionable insights to programs and partners.
